About me
I am a Christian, married 25 years to my high school sweetheart, and mother of 9 children. I homeschool and love it! My children range in age from 23 down to 2 years – 6 boys and 3 girls. God has blessed me enormously with the gifts of a godly husband and my children, who are each special and unique in their own separate ways!
My interests include: reading, nature, children, scrapbooking, rubber stamping, cross-stitch, quilting (although I am only a novice quilter, having only completed one very humble pot holder, but with dreams of filling our home with beautiful quilts in the future!), primitive country decorating, anything prairie or pioneer related, and children’s books (especially old ones).
Oh, and don’t forget gingham! Anyone in my family can attest to my love for gingham – especially red or blue!
Some of my favorite books are: the Bible, Little House series, Elm Creek Quilts series, A Full Quiver, Mitford series, Pocketful of Pinecones, Love Comes Softly series, Spurgeon’s Morning & Evening Devotional, Kay Arthur Bible studies.
Some of my favorite movies are: Little Women, The Egg and I (in the spring!), By the Light of the Silvery Moon (in the fall!), the Long, Long Trailer (in the summer!), It’s a Wonderful Life (only allowed at Christmas!), Pride and Prejudice, Love Comes Softly Series, The Easy Way (Cary Grant and Betsy Drake), Cheaper By the Dozen.
My favorite book of the Bible is Matthew. Some of my Bible heroes are Peter, Paul, David, Mary, and Job. One of my favorite Bible verses is: “Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10.
I live in a rural area on 2 1/2 acres in a small neighborhood surrounded by corn and hay fields. After living in the suburbs my entire life, I am so thankful that God saw fit to move me out to my dream setting, surrounded by His beautiful creation. One of my favorite past times is to sit on my front porch and watch the trees, listen to the birds, and drink in the sweet smell of God’s beautiful world.
May you be blessed by this site and I pray that the Lord will touch your heart in a special way with just the words you need to hear on any given day!
Blessings,
Nancy

I would say “God bless you”, but I see that He already has! I love some of your interests and would really like to see you get serious with quilting. I turned my oldest daughter into a quilting freak and we really enjoy hoarding our fabric stashes. (It’s a disease)

Kacey – I already have the disease! I LOVE browsing the quilt store and building my stash with beautiful fabrics. I’ve been trying to finish a cross-stitched stocking for #7 in time for Christmas, so I haven’t been able to quilt, but I’m hoping to be able to soon!

Nancy – I found you from Life in a Shoe. I love your blog! It is encouraging and uplifting to read it and see that someone else is where I am or have been. Though I only have four munchkins at this point I can still relate. Blessings to you!

Well Nancy,
I’m so glad that you stopped by to visit my blog. I have been blessed already visiting with you and I haven’t even read your posts yet! I’m looking forward to having that nice cup of cocoa and visiting with you for a while.
We have much in common. Our family has been similiarly blessed when the Lord answered our prayer of moving from a Chicago suburb to our “place surrounded by His creation” (which was my husband’s prayer) two short years ago. I still walk out the front door in awe of His blessings and am so thankful for the opportunity.
So glad that I found you. Such a treasure!
Blessings & joy,
Lea

I’ve been looking at your site for the last few weeks and today was surprized to see that your not far from our little farm. We live across from Jackson Pond in Binghamton, I also homeschool the kids at home. We parented 8 kids ages 32 to 25 and are now raising 3 more 11,9,and 5 full time. Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your site. Pam

Hi Pam! I’m so glad you’ve been visiting! You are certainly a busy woman! I know that you probably have much wisdom on the raising of children that I would love to hear!
I’m not sure where Binghamton is – the only one I know of is in New York, which is way north of here! Are you in Texas?
Blessings,
Nancy

Hi Nancy,
I found your blog today, and I have enjoyed reading your archives (which brought many smiles to my face). I live in Toronto, Canada with my DH. My four children are all grown, but they live real near by (smile). Thank you for sharing your family and adventures; I look forward to many more visits here.
Hugs,
Rosemary

Hi Rosemary!
I’m so glad you have enjoyed your visit!
I am one of 4 children, myself, and we all live in the same general area as my parents. It is always fun to get together for family celebrations, holidays and birthdays!
Thank you for your kind words!
