Thankful Thursday – December 4

December 5, 2008

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Better late than never. I am writing this at 5 minutes until midnite, so it is still Thursday here!

My thankful list for this week -

1. I am thankful for a wonderful Thanksgiving last week with my family.

2. I am thankful for the arrival of the Christmas season – one of my favorite times of year.

3. I am thankful that all of the Christmas decoration tubs are unloaded and are going back into the attic tomorrow morning (make that this morning).

4. I am thankful that tomorrow (today) is “Tree Day” at our house! Jeff is off work and we will all go out to lunch and then to pick out our Christmas tree for this year. We will spend the rest of the day trimming the tree, until it is all finished and we sit down to “oooo” and “ahhh” over it.

5. I am thankful that the new dashboard design that appeared tonight on my computer via WordPress has a perfectly working image uploader – no more challenges with uploading pictures to my posts! Hooray!

6. I am thankful for Charles Dickens’ story “A Christmas Carol”. I am reading the book and we have been watching various movie versions. It encourages me and inspires me every time I see or read it.

7. I am thankful for a warm home to protect me on cold nights like we’ve been having lately.

8. I am thankful for the way the Lord is providing for us during a lean few weeks, and especially for the contentment that He has given me in the midst of it.

9. I am thankful that two of my friends at church are both having healthy pregnancies and healthy babies after both experienced miscarriages prior to their newest blessings.

10. I am thankful that the cough that has been plaguing our family for several months now seems to have finally packed it’s bags and left town. Except for one small runny nose, everyone seems to be in good health again.

Thankful Thursday – November 20

November 20, 2008

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Good Morning! Are you feeling thankful today? Think for a moment of a few of the blessings in your life and thank the Lord for His gracious goodness.

Here is my thankful list for this week -

1. I am thankful for a cozy home to keep us warm on a cold night like tonight will be.

2. I am thankful for my son, Ryan’s visit yesterday. It was good to have him home and have time to talk.

3, I am thankful for food in the pantry to feed my family.

4. I am thankful for the low gas prices – I filled my van for only $55. the other day! I thought something wasn’t working properly when the pump shut off so soon, but was amazed to realize that my tank was actually full.

5. I am thankful that I have finished cross-stitching Michael’s stocking. All that is left to finish is putting it together and lining it!

6. I am thankful that my parents had a wonderful vacation and returned home safely.

7. I am thankful for the freedom we have to worship God in this country. We have been reading about the Pilgrims struggles in England with King James and the imprisonments and separations they suffered all because of their refusal to worship the King’s way and were worshipping in secret.

8. I am thankful that when I feel anxious and fretful, the Lord reaches out and comforts me with those precious words – “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

9. I am thankful for my husband, who tries to lighten my load on a daily basis.

10. I am thankful for my children, who bless me daily, as well, with their thoughts, actions, and sweet love.

Thankful Thursday – October 30

October 30, 2008

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
I Thessalonians 5:16-18

I’m taking a break from the Bloggy Giveaway Carnival train to post my Thankful Thursday (assuming my fingers hold out). I am truly thankful for all of the sweet and lovely comments I have been getting on my giveaway post and for the wonderful new blogs I’ve discovered on my journey around blogworld. I can’t wait to get to know you all better!

And now for the “official” list – my Thankful list for this week -

1. I am thankful for the beautiful Fall days we are experiencing here.

2. I am thankful for all of the October birthday people in my extended family. We had such a great time celebrating them with our costume party last weekend. (P.S. Family – do I have your permission to share some of the photos? – e-mail me.)

3. I am thankful for Mommy Reg at Mommyhood Adventures for honoring me with a blog award this week, and for her visits to my blog and the blessing that her comments always are to me.

**Updated to say – ooo, I just found out that Michelle at Sleepy Cat Hollow has also honored me with an award! Wow! Two in one week! – I am truly speechless. Thank you so much, Michelle, for the award and for the blessing of your visits to my blog, as well! I’ll get those award posts up Asap!

4. I am thankful for the promise of a fun weekend ahead with our Fall Festival and Reformation Day celebrations.

5. I am thankful that my sister-in-law’s arm operation went well last week and that she is now on the path to recovery of arm movement.

6. I am thankful that Jack (our black Lab) did well this week with being crated in the house for the night, when it was too cold for him to be outside. It’s good to know that he will not be a challenge later in the winter when he needs to spend more evenings in the house.

7. I am thankful for the home and land that God has blessed us with in the country – and for the joy of being surrounded by nature and the lessons and love that God speaks to me of, through it.

8. I am thankful for the blessing of my children, who are so special and precious to me. They each have their own unique strengths and gifts to offer the world and I look forward to seeing God’s plan for them unfold in their lives in each unique way.

9. I am thankful for my husband – the man that God has given me to walk this pathway called life with – for his patience, forgiving spirit, faith, and love for me, even when I don’t deserve it.

10. I am thankful for the truth of this verse of Scripture -

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28

Thankful Thursday – October 23

October 23, 2008

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Happy Thursday! What are you thankful for today? Here are a few things that I am thankful for this week -

1. The blessing of a good night’s sleep and the newness of each day.

2. The arrival of a cold front yesterday that has dropped temperatures into truly Fall-like weather (and sent me scurrying into the attic to find warm clothes for the children!)

3. The blessing of all those clothes I found in the attic to keep my little ones warm this winter.

4. Warm and cozy flannel sheets and quilts on a cold, Autumn night.

5. All of the delicious recipes that I have found on so many wonderful blogs that have been such a blessing to my family so far this season.

6. The right and priviledge that we have in our country to vote and have a voice in our government. I early voted yesterday and, as always, was struck by the blessing of this priviledge.

7. The Bible lesson we have been discussing this week centering around Matthew 6:33 -

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” or the way it is worded in the “Day By Day Kid’s Bible” – “Put God first in your life. Then He will make sure you have everything you need.”

8. My husband, who gets up early, without complaint, every morning to go to work and provide for his family.

9. Fun old movies and shows that we can enjoy together as a family, learning good lessons and creating strong bonds together.

10. The promise of the celebrations of Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner!

Thankful Thursday – October 16

October 16, 2008

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
I Thessalonians 5:16-18

It has been an eventful week so far – much to be thankful for -

1. I am thankful for the nice rain we had yesterday, and the cool front it brought with it.

2. I am thankful that my son, Ryan, was not injured when a truck turned into his lane and hit him yesterday. His car will probably be totaled, but for the moment is driveable. I thank you, Lord, for protecting my sweet boy!

3. I am thankful that our mainline plumbing clog has been cleared and that we are able to use our bathrooms again! I am thankful for the wonderful invention of indoor plumbing, and doubt that any of us will be taking this convenience for granted for quite awhile.

4. I am thankful for the beautiful colors of the leaves, as they are transforming all around us.

5. I am thankful for our successful garage sale last weekend, and for the wonderful bargains that the Lord blessed us with through our neighbors’ sales.

6. I am thankful for my Dad, whose birthday was last Friday – for the blessing of his life, love, wisdom and care.

7. I am thankful that the Lord is sovereign over everything – including elections – and that His perfect plan will come to pass.

8. I am thankful for our monthly paycheck yesterday and the ability to stock up the pantry for another month.

9. I am thankful that Jeff worked from home yesterday, so that he could be here when the septic serviceman, and finally the plumber, were here. I’m never comfortable dealing with them, and I am thankful that Jeff handles it, so that I don’t have to.

10. I am thankful that God is faithful to provide for all of our needs and that we can rest in that truth.
