He is on His Throne

“Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

“God reigns over the nations,
God sits on His holy throne.” – Psalm 47:8

I have been hearing alot about fear these days. Fear in regards to the economy and fear in regards to the election. And surely there are many things to fear . . . if you’re facing these things alone without the Lord. I have tried to imagine what it would be like to face the fears of these days without the realization of God’s sovereign hand, and it was not a pretty picture. But, the truth is – God is sovereign and is working out His plan. He is not thwarted nor surprised at the events of our times – He is the author of these events. And we don’t have to understand what He is doing – just trust.

His plan is good and righteous. His love for us is great and He is in control of everything. Certainly this does not mean that we will never suffer or have hard times – we will – because this grows us and brings us back to our Creator, where we belong. We are a comfort driven culture and we tend to think that our comfort is always the top priority – but it’s not – our relationship with the Lord is a much higher priority, and is worth far more than all of the comforts and pleasures of this world.

So, in these uncertain times, know that they are only “uncertain” to us – not to God. And place yourself in His loving care and rest in the knowledge that all will be well, and the glory will be all to Him.

“I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul will makes its boast in the Lord;
The humble will hear it and rejoice.
O magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.

I sought the Lord, and He answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

O taste and see that the Lord is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
O fear the Lord, you His saints;
For to those who fear Him there is no want.
The young lions do lack and suffer hunger;
But they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing.”
-Psalm 34:1-10

May the Lord keep you in His perfect peace this day.
